Title:
Hide and seek
Description:
We were coming back from a short shopping trip in town, and heard a train blowing for the crossings. As we crossed over the tracks on US 412, I could see the signal lit red at the south end of the siding. Hmmm....he's still in the block. We swung around onto Lincoln and headed north, the train still on the crossing, moving very slowly. We beat him up to Davidson Rd, where he was taking a red signal, and talking to the dispatcher. I got a hide and seen shot of the head end behind a great climbing tree.

Bagel trip
Description:
I had called in an order for bagels to a local place this rainy morning. As I headed to make the pick up, this empty grain train was pulling into the siding. I got the shot by the team track in the gloom.

From the crossing
Description:
The OGEX empty train in a better view from the Davidson Rd crossing, stretched out into the fog. The rear was just short of the Country Club Rd crossing.

Stretched at the signal
Description:
The OGEX train is stretched into the distance at signal 226.5, which is red both sides. As I was getting soaked taking this shot-I was in jeans and a T-shirt-I heard a horn to the south. The signal issue now had the northbounds backing up.

Coming up behind
Description:
Heres the reason for the horn in the distance: the 181 train is now at Siloam Springs, cooling his heels for the red board he has at the north end of the siding, waiting while the OGEX train finally gets moving. Hes take off within five minutes. I was happy to get back into the warm car!!

Lucky grab
Description:
I was coming back from running some errands, picking my way through town, about to cross the KCS at Kenwood St, when to my delight the gates started down. The day was gloomy-its been raining here for the last three days, and I didnt expect to shoot any train photos, but when presented with the chance, out comes the camera from under the seat. This is unusual for two reasons: first, the dodger typically runs with three units, occasionally, but not often, two. And its long hood forward, which you never see here. Anyway, a LHF GP 40 with six cars heads to Watts in the rain. Last time I saw this unit, in Gentry on the dodger, it was gray.

Downpour
Description:
We had just come of a cruise ship, and were getting set to start for, first a visit to family in Mobile, then home. After a stop at a Winn Dixie, we were headed back out to I 295. As I waited for the light to turn onto the ramp, I was able to get a shot of this CSX local, just as the skied opened up.
