Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 30 August 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2258 and #2262. Both are EF-25's built by EMD in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. They have just passed through the Jones Street crossing on their way to East Altoona after pulling a 75-car mixed-cargo freight train into the Hollidaysburg Yards. The caboose was #477966. Partially visible on the left is a Maintenance-of-Way building.

Derailment. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 21 May 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7057, #7197-B, #7042, and #2261. All were built by EMD. #7057, #7197-B and #7042 are EFS-17M's and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7057 was built in 1956, #7197-B was built in 1957, while #7042 was built in 1955. #2261 is an EF-25 built in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They have just come down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve with a 57-car TrucTrain and are passing the derailment site with caution. The caboose is #477954. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2221, #2431, and #2262. #2221 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in April of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2431 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2262 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in May of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They've come down the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a merchandise freight train and are passing under the 12th Street Footbridge on their way to the Enola Yards. This train seems to have two "sections": the first has 37 cars and N-8 cabin car #478086, while the second (not pictured herein) has 35 cars and cabin #477746. (#14 of 21)

Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2290, #2264, and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #2290 and #2264 are EF-25's rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2290 was constructed in June of 1964, while #2264 was built in May of the same year. They're pulling a westbound merchandise train past WORKS Tower. What's notable, here, is that this train is on one of the "passenger" tracks and will not stop in Altoona to change crews. In 1965, this was the exception ~ nowadays, it is the norm. (#34 of 44)

WIL-ALT-65. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona during August of 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2278, #2403, #2425, and another unit whose number is not recorded. #2278 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2403 is an AF-24 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. #2425 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are passing through the Altoona Passenger Station with a mixed-cargo freight train on their way to Enola and points East. Also visible (L to R) are two of the original PRR 12th Street Car Shop buildings and the PRR Test Plant building.

Shown here are four diesel-electric locomotives pulling an eastbound manifest freight train that stretches all the way around this curve in the Susquehanna River and out of sight at the upper right. Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Pictured at the right is a train consisting of 110 empty hoppers ~ headed by Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9808 ~ on its way up the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains; the N-5 cabin car is #477202. Pictured at the left (L to R) are PRR engines #2433, #2239, #2362, and #2286. #2433 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2239 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in May of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2362 and #2286 are EF-25's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each; #2362 was built in March of 1965, but #2286 was built in June of 1964. They've come down the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a 99-car merchandise freight train and are on their way to the Enola Yards.
